We come into this world as 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 and overtime build opinions of things base on our experience with the world and what we are told or taught. I often hear people comment that they find it difficult to read because when they were young they didn’t like reading. Some claim reading was served to them as a chore or punishment and as such the great dislike.
Also, others have expressed how a pleasant past experience with reading have helped reinforced their reading ability/habit. To become a 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 reader, you will need to replace any negative and inhibiting mindsets from the past.
Replace choking scenes and experiences with new motivating, inspiring and pleasing mindset. To outwit limiting mindsets may not be easy but it is doable and success begins by choosing to do the following:
A) Identify what your limiting mindsets from the past are.
B) Spend less time reaffirming th negative: stop reminding yourself how bad a reader you are, how much you hate reading, how boring reading is and replace them with energy building thoughts and action taking. Start telling yourself that you can read and read strong.
C) Focus on Progress, Not Perfection: Although you might have now developed a positive mindset, you need understand that overall success does not happen overnight. Go bit by bit. Don’t break down when you are unable to reach a perceived target, instead celebrate little wins
D) Cope with Self-Criticism: That is yourself telling you that you did poor. Yes, it’s hard but cope with it and don’t get drowned up by it, live through it and excel. Once you rewire your negative mindset of the past, you are now as good as any thriving reader you know.
